Hi! I'm Gary Vaynerchuk. I build businesses. Right after college, I took my family wine business and grew it from a $3M to a $60M business in just five years.

Now I run VaynerMedia, one of the world's top social media-first digital agencies.

I'm also an angel investor and venture capitalist. Some of the companies I've invested in are Facebook, Twitter, Tumblr, Uber and Birchbox. This was before co-founding VaynerRSE, a $25M investment fund.

I've been on Fortune and Crain's 40 under 40 lists in the past year, and you might have seen me profiled in the New York Times, Fortune and Inc. magazines. You might have also caught me making appearances on CNN, BloombergTV, or CNBC.

A fun fact about me is that one day I plan to buy the New York Jets!

Now's your chance to ask me anything! Please write your questions in the comments section below and I'll answer the questions live on Thursday, January 5th at Noon ET.

hey Gary, it's always so inspiring to see your facebook lives and videos, so first of all thank you for that! just like you, i also believe in living in the moment and taking each and every opportunity (both professional and personal) as if it was my last day but to be honest, it's hard to stay positive and motivated when shit happens in life. QUESTION: how do you keep yourself and your team motivated each day?

Gary - You are a beast! My question : When do you know its time to walk away or close a business . I know that Passion and money is key but what other signs should you look for to make the decision to say Good Bye ! And what's the best way to walk away . Thanks Khalilah Olokunola

Thank you . I knew that our own individual moral compass was key . We do all have our own level of capabilities that we need to acknowledge and make decisions from but still not allow it to hinder us from hustling , well in my case being a "WELL HEELED HUSTLER"

Hi Gary! Your writing and videos are super inspirational and always give me tons of great ideas. In building teams and businesses, how have you ensured that everyone on the team is on the same page, that you're hiring team players, and while being very busy, still manage to check in and provide enough regular feedback to team members? thank you!

Hi, Gary. I just finished Tools of Titans by Tim Ferriss and loved one section where someone suggested asking an unexpected question. If you could have lunch with anyone from the past, present, or future, who would it be? Where would you go/ what would you order and what would you ask him/ her?

Hey! I just heard you, loud and clear, today for the first time. I dug it. You can feel your passion through your speech. My question: How do you address an audience (me + millions) who know their purpose, who need to fulfill their journey, while simultaneously dealing with mental health hindrances? I.e. anxiety and depression. Have you dealt with mental illness personally? - the first portion being the latter of the two inquiries. Thanks, Gar!

Hi Gary, I have been following you since last year and you are very inspiring! My question is: What can I do to market my business more and get more clients? I run an event planning company and I took a 3 year hiatus to take care of my son. I'm a single mother, so I wasn't able to juggle both baby and business. Last year I came back into the event planning scene and have been putting myself out there as best as possible (networking, attending workshops/events). And I will be taking an event design course at the end of this month as that's where I want to direct myself into. I have been flipping stuff to make money, but not enough to put towards my business.

If you could only select 5 conferences or high-profile events to speak at this year, which ones would you accept invitations from? I'm curious about which ones bring back the most ROI for you, from your perspective.

Hi Gary, a fellow Mogul recently had this question (it's trending on the homepage right now), and it made me so curious about what you would do. What would you advise regarding her issue: "I sell my fine artwork online and to designers in Manhattan. This year, I want to ramp my online business up, but think that my website [frommeproductions.com] may be holding me back. I use one designed by artists called OtherPeoplesPixels, but I don't think that the SEO is sufficient. I have elaborate descriptions. When I observed Google Analytics, it said that I had 80 sessions from the US and 18 from Russia? That is poor. I'm on social media (Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn). How can I drive more traffic to my site? What do you advise? Thank you!"

Hi Gary love your attitude I can keep going on and on . My question is I've been in business for 12 years, I make hair accessories mostly handmade I love what I do , I started Wholesale with lots of ups and down in my personal life . I drop some of the Wholesale and went to retail as well and build up awesome customers . My problem is I'm not sure if I want to keep doing retail and wholesale I feel like I can't keep up since most of it is handmade . Love to hear your advice on this. Thank you Vannie.

What did you think of Medium's pivot today, decrying the advertising model of the media industry and cutting 1/3 of their staff in order to figure out a different business model? I also follow Bryan Goldberg, CEO of Bustle, and he stated the following, in response. What are your thoughts on Bryan's take? "Today, I received many text messages and emails, etc. from people in response to Ev Williams and M.G. Siegler's posts about Medium and that company's future. In those posts, both of them gave their opinions about Publishing and Advertising. They are certainly entitled to their opinions. My take on the matter is simple — Silicon Valley needs a hard reset when it comes to their idealistic and often incomplete understanding of the Media and Advertising businesses. (Amongst many other things). For the next year, the very smart and often-correct leaders of Silicon Valley need to do a lot more listening and observing when it comes to those aspects of America that they do not understand. That does not just include the places in which they spend little time or the people they do not meet, that also includes the industries that they are intent on disrupting but know so little about. Startups do not go back to the drawing board because an industry is broken. They go back to the drawing board because their company is broken. The easy days are over for Silicon Valley founders. You are not the first Rails coder to have your idea, and you are not the first person to think of that app. This is an execution era, and it will look very different from the year 2008. Execution means understanding your target market fluently. It means understanding your users, customers, and other key stakeholders and how to balance their needs. If you are trying to disrupt Media, then your startup should be in New York, not San Francisco. Execution means checking your Idealism at the door, because the clients you serve are smart and deserve the respect of you taking their complex needs seriously. Last year, we saw how Zenefits did not respect the industry in which they operated. They were "smarter" than the industry. They thought that SoMa knew better about... everything. Medium is a different company, but I believe that the root issue is similar. If you think that you can just "fly over" a $300,000,000,000 industry while ignoring the realities on the ground, then perhaps it is your approach that needs re-examining, not the industry. I enjoyed living in the Bay Area for the first 30 years of my life. I loved the year 2008 in San Francisco — the testing of ideas to see what would work and what would not. I LOVED those days for what they were, but they are over now. THEY ARE GONE. THEY ARE NOT COMING BACK. This is the EXECUTION AGE — the next wave of multi-billion dollar outcomes will belong to those companies who can execute more and fantasize less."

What's the first thing you would do once you own the New York Jets? What would be the first thing your wife would want to do with the New York Jets? Do you two ever collaborate together on business ventures or outside initiatives, beyond family?

What is the biggest lesson you would want your followers to always remember from your latest book? Also, who is your favorite Twitter follower? Do you feel a personal connection with any specific few of your followers who converse with you on your social channels?

What do you say to students who are graduating in a poor jobs market? I am a final year student in Film & TV and though I work around the clock and have a great CV, there are not that many jobs in Ireland. I may emigrate but don't have as many contacts in other countries. (My LinkedIn) https://ie.linkedin.com/in/iamlauragaynor

You are right, I used to be that person until I allowed fear in, constantly overthinking everything, thanks for the reply, asking you this question was part of doing something new! I appreciate your response, Anna.

Hi, Gary what is your definition of a Mentor? I paid a lot of money recently to have a mentor whom I feel hasn't come up to scratch, but because he is the Mentor and I am the student I don't know if the problem lies with me or him. I now don't know if my expectations have been too high which is why I am disappointed with the outcome, any ideas or suggestions would be most appreciated.
